Help Me Grow Western New York (HMG WNY) was first conceptualized in 2009
and began its first launch in 2011.
The lessons learned from this initial experience resulted in a renewed commitment
by our local funding organization (the Health Foundation of Western and Central
New York) to embark on a second re-launch of the HMG model effective July
2013. A new innovative leadership structure was created with Niagara University
located in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
HMG WNY has established a coordinated and collaborative community-wide
effort with a broad cross-sector of support. The United Way of Buffalo & Erie
County and United Way of Greater Niagara serve as principal partners in the
continuing evolution of HMG WNY.
Included in the system is the accredited Western New York 2-1-1 centralized
call center that serves as the central point of access. WNY 2-1-1 contains a
comprehensive and robust inventory of community assets in the form of an upto-
date database listing of community-based resources and services available to
families of young children.
