Help Me Grow Utah (HMGU) is actively serving over 800 families with
1113 children living in Salt Lake, Utah, Uintah, Carbon and Duchesne
Counties. It has served 2259 families over the past four years.
Staff: In order to best serve these families, HMGU employs six full-time
staff, a part-time community liaison for the rural counties, an AmeriCorps
VISTA, and the equivalent of one full-time intern per semester. The fulltime
staff consists of a director, child development specialist, call center
manager, 2 full-time care coordinators, and 1.5 FTE community liaisons.
Systems: To administer its services, HMGU relies on a (1) centralized call
center housed within the 211 system, (2) new online child/family database,
and (3) access community outreach database. HMGU staff receives
incoming calls and makes outgoing calls to families, service providers and
health care providers using the centralized call center. We use the Family
Database to keep detailed case management notes on the welfare and
frequency of communication with each HMGU family including issues,
referrals, services and outcomes. We utilize the Community Outreach
Database to track the nature and effectiveness of our marketing and
outreach efforts over time.
Outreach: To promote our services to families, HMGU actively engages
in community outreach to families, service providers and child health care providers. To reach families, HMGU staff
sponsors tables at community and school events and runs three signature HMGU Family Events in partnership with
other organizations. We primarily engage health care and service providers through in-services that highlight the benefits
to those using the HMGU system.
